"Let's get started." I strode to the far end and began opening cupboards. Some were empty, but most had old documents or artifacts stored in vacuum-sealed glass boxes. "What is this?" I pointed at a stick with a feather tied to one end. "An arrow?" I'd seen drawings of them, but no one used those things anymore. Laser pistols were far less messy when it came to killing from a distance.

Review part 2 

So last time I was writing about what happened in the book all to the 174th page, but like you can guess a lot has changed, because the book has taken an unexpected turn like all great books should.

(Spoiler alert)

That crazy egoistic DAD was actually an uncle of Zach's and he killed his son Thomas so Zach is just ZACH and on that awful day Zach should have died but instead Thomas died (he and Zach were the same age and they were very alike so they could easily pass as brothers, but they were in fact cousins) and Alistair wanted revenge. Not really his son’s death, I didn't really get a feeling he even was mourning him; it was more for himself, because he made a mistake and now he was paying for it. He said that himself, that he wanted revenge; because no one will teach him a lesson he is the only one who will.

Well let’s get back to the story. So Alistair drugged Zach with some serum that made him loose all of his memories and after Zach woke up in the hospital, Alistair claimed that he is his father and that his name was Thomas his long-gone-killed-by-him son.

There was also one MAJOR thing that I liked very much. Cathy Marlowe could've finished the book when Lizzie and Zach and their whole family was safe and when I was reading it I was like this is it this is the end, but no she has given us the long wanted and promising romantic moment between Zach and Lizzie. I LOVED THAT!!

My Review part 1

Four days ago I received a review copy of Comes The Night by Cathy Marlowe, but because UNI started just few days ago I couldn't finish the book in time so I will write the review in two parts. 

I'm currently on 174th page which is kind of a cliffhanger of what is happening in the book right now. 

First I have to say that I love this book. It's interesting and for me is kind of unique, cause I didn't read any other book with a similar theme. I'm very curious what will happen next and that only means that the book is good, really good. 

At the beginning and throughout the book character Zach is very loving and kind even though his dad is self centered-awful guy. I don't know (yet) why he kidnapped his son and grandson, but I'm eager to find out the deeper meaning to all of this. 

The only thing that is bothering me are the names. Zach is also Thomas and Lizzie is Maggie or Elizabeth and Daniel is Alistair/Ace and so on. I know it’s crucial to the story but it is also a little confusing at times. 

I feel bad for Lizzie, she is a very strong person and she would do anything for her family, but unfortunately her family is falling apart. Her husband Zach/Thomas doesn't have any memory of their time being married, her daughter from the first marriage is kidnapped and her son is also under control of Alistair.

Just like I said I'm in the middle of the book and I need to find out what will happen next so I can review the whole book!

My review

Aidens love for Alex blew me away in this book. I thought I knew that they love each other when I read about them in previous books, but this one. Wow. He loves her even more than he loves himself and his life. He wants to save her so desperately and he'll do everything he can to get his Alex back. 

Alex was really freaky in Elixir, almost like she was possessed by a devil, which she was and Seth was the devil. Seth loves her too in his own way and no one seems to understand that. I'm not defending him, because he has done horrible things, under the influence or not; but he is doing everything Aiden is, just differently. He's trying to pull her back to him, because he needs her, and I don't think he needs her just so he can absorb her power and become the God killer, but he needs her because he wants desperately be a good guy. So Aiden and Seth, when it comes to Alex, aren't that different, well minus the killing innocent people.

I don't know why, but I liked this novella even more than I liked previous books. Maybe it has something to do with being written in Aidens POV. I liked that Jennifer gave us an insight in his mind, because I was always curious what he was thinking most of the time. And she just gave us a reason to love him more, with the love he has for Alex and the passion to save her.

My review

Holy Gods! I'm just going to start with the ending here. It was, well, it was expected really, but it was still mind-blowing. The last scene still managed to surprise me even though I was totally aware that something like that is going to happen. 

What I didn't expect was, that the author would end it like this, with this big cliffhanger. I was sure I have at least 15 pages till end of the book (I was reading on my iPad). And when it came to that scene, and I was really nervous then, and when I turned the page... Nothing. Nada. End of book three. I almost screamed, honest to god.

I read a lot of reviews on this one and they were saying that it is better than first two books. I don't really know, I like each book equally, maybe I like this one less because it had too little of Seth (don't judge, I'm still a Seth girl even after everything) but all in all it was enjoyable. 

I had some issues with Alex. Again. I like her and she changed tremendously, but still... I hate it when characters go full-on Tris in Allegiant mode! I do not want to go through something like that again. I repeat: I do not. I thought I was never going to stop crying then. Anyway, when she started with that, I totally agreed with Aiden that she's crazy. I don't like when characters are willing to kill themselves or be killed by others, because they don't see a way out and they want to protect people around them. I know it's fiction, but it bothers me still. There are a lot of young people reading those kinds of books and they might get the wrong idea about suicide. It's a nasty subject this one, and I don't want people to romanticize it.

I try to avoid spoilers, so this is why my reviews are so short. I try to review the book without actually spoiling things.

I have this book since forever and I still haven't read it. 

8. BITE CLUB by Rachel Caine

Dear god, this is my favourite series about vampires (right after Vampire Academy of course) and I totally forgot about it! Shame on me.

9. DRAGONFLY IN AMBER by Diana Gabaldon

I just decided I'm going to read this entire series. Yes. 

10. INFINITE by Jodi Meadows

I adore Jodi, she writes so beautifully and her words are magic. 

This is my fall TBR list, I really hope I'm going to have time to read all these now that uni is starting again.

My review

I picked this book up, because I was, well bored. I have all those other books to read, but all the mention of Jennifer lately got me curious as to why I started reading this series. I have read Half Blood three years ago and with the short memory I have, I remembered nothing. But there was this gnawing feeling that I found the first book amazing if I gave it 5 stars!

So I just read my review for Half Blood. I don't know really why I gave the book 5 stars (ok, I admit it, it was mainly because of Seth), and the book reminded me of Vampire Academy, so much that I almost stopped reading. Huh... Reading the second book, I had this small voice in my head saying: Haven't you read a book similar to this one? No I know.

But still, it was a great read. Fast paced, pages filled with words that made you want to read even while you're sleeping. 

There were two things I didn't like in the book: first was the love triangle; I forgot that two years ago this was the only thing all the books had in common, and I mean all. Ok not all, but in general almost every second book that got published. I remember how annoyed I was, because it was always the same. But hey, you can't choose how your heart feels right? 

The second thing was Alex's attitude. Remember, I read this book three years ago when I was 17 and still wild and much like Alex. Now I'm 20 and it was really hard not to be annoyed with her and her somewhat idiotic behaviour. I know, I know, being 20 doesn't mean I'm suddenly a serious grown up, because I am not, mind you, but I have grown these past years. So it was really really difficult at first. But then she changed a little, and I liked it. Other than that, Alex is a brave girl and I loved it when she exposed her daimon bites in front of everybody. It's brave to get rid of your insecurities and show the world that the scars you have don't make you weak. 

As I said before, it was a good book, so good that I'm going to read the rest of the series.

My review

I have to say that I really liked the beginning of this story, the end of it not so much. Nikki was very interesting and a feisty girl with a dark past and Damien was this mysterious/ex-tennis player/business guy with an also dark past. Interesting characters, but there were several things that I didn't like.

First the story was like a fan-fiction of 50 shades of Grey with less kinky stuff.

Secondly the author doesn't tell us what actually happened with Nikki's sister, why she killed herself, what happened with the painting, was it finished? Did Nikki get her million dollars for it? Did Nikki decide to push her idea about sticky notes on websites forward? What is so dark about Damien's past? What is with Damien's father and of which secret was Carl talking about at the end of the book?

You can't finish the book without actually telling some things that are mentioned in the book several times, but not actually explained. What is with that?

I was at the last 10 pages and everything was falling apart, but magically at the last 10 pages everything came to normal! And when Damien said Nikki that he would do anything that she asks for, she instead of telling him to fuck her she should have asked him to tell her about his past and one god damn mystery would be solved.

(you need to know that when I read this book I didn't know that it was a trilogy)
