The Friday 56 (1)

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda at Freda's Voice.

Here are the rules:

  1. Grab a book, any book.
  2. Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that's ok.)
  3. Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it) that grab you.
  4. Post it.
  5. Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It's that simple.
Week number 1 choice:

"I watched in sympathy as he picked up the young man’s arm by wrist and elbow and began forcing it upward. The angle was quite wrong; it must be causing agonizing pain. Sweat poured down the young man’s face, but he made no sound beyond a soft groan. Suddenly he slumped forward, kept from falling on the floor only by the grip of the men holding him."

I just really wanted an excuse to use this cover (source: GR

What's your choice this week?

  1. I've not watched the series. That's one brutal excerpt. The poor guy is probably the good guy isn't he? Sounds exciting and I may have to check out the book.

    1. Yeah. He's the good guy but I'm not giving anything away *wink* You should definitely check out the book, or if not the book then the tv series :)

  2. Hmm, I'm intrigued. Why is he doing that to the guy's hand? Thanks for stopping by my post earlier!

    1. Maybe he's hurting him on purpose. Maybe he's helping him? The only way to find out is to go read the book or watch the tv series. But definitely go read the book though :)

  3. Very interesting. You have me curious and, like Laura, I think he is probably the good guy too. ^_^

  4. You know for all the people who have told me that I simply MUST read Outlander I don't think I've ever seen an excerpt for it! This does sound interesting and I'm curious to see what exactly is going on in this scene. Thanks for sharing!

    1. That's what I'd be thinking if I knew about the book before I started watching the show.
      Happy weekend to you too!

    1. Erm, you don't actually live in a shell. It's not so popular, yet (I guess). Read the books and the watch the series, it really is worth watching :)
